10 Most Endangered Historic Places in New Jersey 2016

East Broadway was recently listed by Preservation New Jersey as one of the 10 most endangered historic sites in the state. There are over twenty vacant buildings in the 2/3 of a mile stretch, most with important historic eighteenth and nineteenth century architecture including a collection of Federal-style houses.

It is also home to two historically important churches; Mount Hope, which is the oldest piece of property owned by an African-American organization in Salem County and one of the oldest in the state, and Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. the oldest continuously operating A.M.E. (African Methodist Episcopal) church in the United States.
